Jill Filipovic: Universities and blogs do students no favors by pretending that every piece of offensive content comes with a warning sign
Hi all. Recently, this article by Jill Filipovic quoted me on an opinion piece I wrote for Rutgers University’s newspaper, The Daily Targum. However, while referencing my oped regarding trigger warnings, Filipovic misgendered me in her piece - she referred to me as a “he,” when my byline clearly uses “they” pronouns.
I commented on the article, and sent an e-mail out to The Guardian for a correction. However, nearly 24 hours later, The Guardian still hasn’t responded to me yet. Because my article has been cited across news articles, and I am working towards entering a professional writing environment, I would really prefer that my gender was correctly displayed within the above piece.
How can you help? Leave a comment on the article, or send an e-mail to email@example.com .
PLEASE help me by signal boosting this! Trans representation is difficult enough in writing, and I would like to have this pronoun misgendering fixed!
